We are a private practice, therefore, we are not covered by OHIP.

How long are appointments?

Treatment appointments are 50 minutes in duration, this is standard practice in psychotherapy to allow your therapist to update your file. Sessions with our counselling intern are also 50 minutes.

How many sessions until I get better?

Everyone’s circumstances are unique and the length of therapy is dependent on various factors such as your desire and personal development. A typical psychotherapy treatment plan is 12 weeks but it’s difficult to instill lasting change if it is less than this but certainly not impossible. Feel free to discuss your individual needs with your therapist directly.

What can I expect at the first appointment?

The first appointment is a chance for your therapist or counsellor to get to know you and your presenting issues better. We call the first session or two “intake assessment sessions”, this means your therapist will ask you a variety of questions to gain a better understanding of how they can help you and what kind of treatment plan would be best for your individual journey. You may also discuss goals for your therapy journey in this session. Please don’t hesitate to ask your therapist any questions about your treatment plan at any point in time. Therapy is a very collaborative process!

What if the therapist isn’t a good match for me?

If you do not feel like the therapist or counsellor is the right person to help you with your needs, please contact us directly and we can refer you to another therapist at the practice or outside of the practice, we want you to find the best therapist to support you!
